The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended. The emergency air reservoir for starting the SSDGs has a cracked fitting at the pressure gauge permitting the reservoir to deplete the stored air required for starting the generators. The isolation valve for the pressure gauge is also not holding, further contributing to the loss of air through the cracked fitting. Replace isolation valve and cracked gauge fitting with adequate materials prior to sailing oceans route.
