The vessels power driven fire pump shall be energized remotely from a safe place outside the engine room and at the pump. Vessels fire pump can only be started locally. Install remote start-up station for main fire pump. Def to be rectified within 90 days.

Means must be provided for stopping each fan in a ventilation system serving machinery spaces and for closing, in case of fire, each doorway, ventilator, and annular space around funnels and other openings into such spaces. Inlet ventilation for engine room, found on the exterior stack, observed without closure device. Provide closure device. Def to be rectified within 90 days.

Machinery and electrical systems must be designed and maintained to provide for safe operation of the towing vessel and safety of persons onboard under normal and emergency conditions. Starboard main engine flexible fuel hose, from the fuel filter assembly, found weathered with dry rot. Replace hose. (See SAE J1942 for appropriate hoses). Def to be rectified within 90 days.

The master or person in charge of a ship, to which this section applies shall ensure that one or more placards meeting the requirements of this section are displayed in prominent locations and in sufficient numbers so that they can be read by the crew and passengers. For ships while operating on the Great Lakes or their connecting or tributary waters, the placard must (1) Notify the reader of the information in paragraph (c) of this section; or(2) Notify the reader of the following:(i) Except as allowed by § 151.66, the discharge of all garbage into the Great Lakes or their connecting or tributary waters is prohibited; and(ii) A person who violates the above requirements is liable for a civil penalty for each violation, and the criminal penalties of a class D felony. Garbage placards found out of date. Update placards. Def to be rectified within 90 days.

Each towing vessel must be equipped with an industrial type first aid kit.
