Repairs or alterations to the hull, machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI. An unauthorized modification was made to the vessel’s electrical system and watertight boundaries. New cabling had been installed from starboard distribution panel, extending forward through multiple designed boundaries, and terminating in the bar area. Cabling was not properly secured, penetrated at least one watertight bulkhead, and served an unknown purpose. Submit detailed plans for the modification, addressing safety concerns, to the OCMI for review, approval, and inspection. 46 CFR 176.700(a)

The design, materials, and construction of masts, posts, yards, booms, bowsprits, and standing rigging on a sailing vessel must be suitable for the intended service. Following the annual third party rig survey conducted on 15APR2026, numerous cracks were observed in the swage fittings throughout the rigging aloft, including the diamond wires and the screecher stay. The extent and distribution of these defects indicate premature failure of the fittings themselves. The exact cause is currently unknown. As recommended by 3rd party surveyor [name withheld], vessel shall not be permitted to operate under sail until the rigging has been replaced. The rigging appears to be stable for operation under motor power only. Aloft inspections shall be increased to a weekly frequency until the rigging is replaced and shall be thoroughly documented in the rigging log or digitally recorded with time-stamped photographs or both. All standing rigging shall be replaced all within 90 days. Survey Report to follow. 46 CFR 177.330
