All electrical installations, electrical cables and wiring should be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and should be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board. Observed 5 unapproved splices in way of fixed lighting fixtures in engine room,fuel storage compartment and steering gear room, including dead end wires in same location.

Resolution: Dead end wires and unapproved splices have been eliminated. Fractured lighting covers and burned bulbs were all replaced. 24v and 220V electrical supply was tested to satisfaction.

Resolution: A new internal intercom has been installed on the bridge. Local station and remote headset communications were tested in both bridge and engine room to satisfaction.
