Nonmetallic flexible hoses used for fuel lines must not exceed 30 inches and being installed with approved fittings. An engine fuel filter had two hoses connected with several fittings that could not be identified as an approved standard. Replace hose with single length approved hose with approved SAE J1475 fittings or with a hose meeting SAE J1942 standards.

All machinery and electrical system must be designed and maintained to provide safe operation of the vessel. Battery Boxes were found with water/liquid in the battery housing boxes. Remove water and submit plan to ensure batteries stay dry and protected.

All owners and operators of an existing towing vessel must have a valid COI prior to the specified phase-in period. This vessel is one of the 50% of the vessels that has not obtained a valid COI. The vessel shall be made available for a Coast Guard COI inspection within 90 days5. If an inspection is not completed prior to this date, the action for this deficiency shall be changed to a 60 (Rectify deficiencies prior to movement) and the vessel may no longer be permitted to operate.
