A missing bunk light was covered by duct tape with a note that read "Diesel fumes enter the cabin through the wall right here". Prove to the attending marine inspector that no diesel fumes from adjacent (underneath) fuel tank is not entering accommodations. 46 CFR 144.410

Resolution: INTERIOR BULKHEAD WAS REMOVED REVEALING WASTAGE THROUGH THE DECK PLATING INTO THE FUEL TANK AND THE ENGINEROOM. A SEPERATE DEF WAS WRITTEN TO MAKE PERMANENT REPAIRS.

Each towing vessel must be maintained and operated so as to minimize fire hazards and to ensure bilges and void void spaces are kept free from accumulation of combustible and flammable materials and liquids insofar as practicable. The following was found: 1. Accumulation of oil and oil soaked sorbent pads in the bilge. 2. Excessive oil leaks on Main Diesel Engine. 3. Oil dripping from ship service generator air intake into the generator winding. Clean bilges, generator windings and engine oil leaks to be rectified to the satisfaction of the marine inspector. 46 CFR 142.220
