0630-Each survival craft shall be stowed in a state of continuous
readiness so that two crew members can carry out preparations for
embarkation and launching in less than 5 mins. During PSC exam, while
attempting to lower the port side lifeboat to the embarkation level, the
turnbuckle on the port aft davit arm snapped, eliminating the ability to
further lower or restow the lifeboat.
Condition: Improper/Lack of Maintenance
Action required: 17 - Rectify deficiencies prior to departure
Resolved 28 June 2016
Resolution: Class issued report stating: The broken turnbuckle threaded stud has been replaced with spare from starboardside lifeboat davit. Carried out lowering and receovery test two times of the portside lifeboat satisfactorily. See attached Class Report.
