Diesel engines shall be water jacketed and cooled by water from a pump which operates whenever the engine is operating. Keel cooler found to have a crack and be leaking, prohibiting proper cooling of starboard engine. (Old “T” 182.20-10(b)(1))

Electrical equipment for vital systems are to be given special consideration in alignment with Subchapter J. In accordance with Old “J” 111.05-15(a)(2), electrical equipment should be so placed to minimize possibility of damage from dripping liquids. 12V VDC box for port and starboard engines were unable to close, and would no longer protect the wiring from dripping liquids.
