The equipment required for lifefloats and buoyant apparatus must meet the following specifications: the painter must: (i) Be of at least 30.5 meters (100 feet) in length, but not less than 3 times the distance between the deck where the life float or buoyant apparatus it serves is stowed and the lowest load waterline of the vessel. The name of the vessel must be marked or painted in clearly legible letters on each life float paddle. The number of persons capacity must be marked or painted in clearly legible letters and numbers on each side of the bow of each rescue boat. Vessel's painter and vessel's name on paddles was found to be wasted. Life float did not have persons capacity marked on each side. 46CFR180.175(f)(3)(i) 46CFR185.604(g) 46CFR185.604(d)

Each ring buoy shall be fitted with four beckets located at equidistant points about the body of the buoy. The ring life buoy beckets were found to be wasted. 46CFR160.050-4(d)

A vessel must carry either a first-aid kit that meets the requirements in 46 CFR 199.175(b)(10) or a kit with equivalent contents and instructions. For equivalent kits, the contents must be stowed in a suitable, watertight container that is marked “First-Aid Kit”. A first-aid kit must be easily visible and readily available to the crew. Vessels first aid kit container is not watertight. 46CFR184.710

46 CFR 181.420(a)(3)- A pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system must automatically shut down all engines that draw intake air from within the protected space. The emergency generator is not tied into the fireboy system.

46 CFR 184.402 - Except as otherwise provided in this section every vessel must be fitted with a magnetic compass designed for marine use, to be mounted at the primary operating station. Except on vessels limited to daytime operations, the compass must be illuminated. Vessel did not have a magnetic compass.

46 CFR 185.700 - Each survival craft on a vessel must be in good working order and ready for immediate use before the vessel leaves port and at all times while the vessel is underway. The life float's external protective covering requires repair due to multiple slices through it.

Each life float must be fitted with a lifeline, pandants, two paddles, a painter, and a light. Vessel had rotten paddles and the waterlight battery was expired. 46 CFR 180.175(d)

For a life float-Approved under approval series 160.027 or other standard specified by the Commandant. SOLAS tape on life float was no longer reflective and needs to be replaced. 46 CFR 180.200(a)(2)

On a vessel of at least 26 feet in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate high water level. Vessel bilge alarm light did not work when alarm was energized. 46 CFR 182.530(a)

Ensure that a vessel of at least 26 ft in length has a visual and audable alarm at operating station to indicate a high water level in each of normally unmanned spaces. Vessel has inoperable float switch on fwd bilge hi water and inoperable light and alarm for aft bilge pump in generator space. 46 CFR 182.530

Lfe flaot worn, repair/replace.

Vessel's stbd main diesel engine's oil pressure gauge indicated high oil pressure and additionally alarmed the low oil pressure alarm when backing off throttles. Provide service report attesting to proper operation of stbd mde and/or gauge.

Retro on life float not proper type. Ensure SOLAS approved retro is on life float.

Child life jackets not properly seperated from adult. Ensure child's lifejackets are seperated from adult PFD's.

Vessel has 500 cu ft fireboay installed in engine compartment and is required to have a 600 cu ft. system.

Add Retro-reflective tape to the bottom of lifefloat as required in 46 CFR 160.010-4(p)
