FURTHER SURVEY OF THE RUDDER & STEERING GEAR SYSTEM WAS REQUIRED BY CLASS TO BE CONDUCTED IN SAN FRANCISCO. A SHIM WAS BEING SQUEEZED OUT AND THE #1HYDRAULIC RAM WAS NOT IN LINE WITH THE #2 RAM. THREE FRACTURES IN THE RUDDER PLATING WERE REPAIRED BY UNDERWATER WELDING.
