46 CFR 176.700(d) The OCMI may require an inspection and testing whenever a repair or alteration is undertaken. Vessel had reported the main engine suffered from a blown head gasket which led to catastrophic break down of the engine. Owner plans on replacing engine in kind and is restricted to carrying passengers until repower and sea trials have been completed to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.
