In meeting these requirements, the company should ensure that appropriate corrective actions are taken and records of these activities are maintained. In March of 2022 all section valves were found unsecured and able to be manipulated. This deficiency was rectified by the placing of chains and padlocks. PSCO found the same issue on most recent inspection with all section valves unsecured. The purpose of the Chapter is to require the fullest practicable degree of fire protection, fire detection and fire extinction in ships. The following basic principles underlie the Regulations in this Chapter: restricted use of combustible materials and protection of means of escape. Excessive storage of combustible materials was discovered in a void space adjacent to the ER workshop, under the uninsulated stair serving as a means of escape to the poop deck.
