All power ventilation, except machinery space and cargo space ventilation and any alternative system which may be required under regulation 16.6, shall be fitted with controls so grouped that all fans may be stopped from either two seperate positions which shall be situated as far as practicable. Controls provided for the power ventilation serving machinery spaces shall also be grouped so as to be outside such spaces, Ventilation louvers in EDG room did not close completely. 74 SOLAS 81 AMEND II-2/32.1.6

PSCO found a leaking steam pipe with patches in the funnel casing at the stern of the vessel 74SOLAS(97)II-1/33.1, Code 16AC.

Where "A" Class divisions are penetrated for the passage of electrical cables, pipes, trunks, ducts, etc, or for girders, beams or other structural members arrangements shall be made to ensure that the fire resistance is not impaired. PSCO found a squared section cut-out in the structural steel A60 fire boundary to pass water hoses in an electrical locker in deck 4, adjacent to the elevator. 74SOLAS(81)II-2/18.1.1 Code 50AC(30days).

Ventilation ducts, including dampers, shall be made of steel and their arrangements shall be to the satisfaction of the Administration (74SOLAS(81)II-2/38.3.3.5) PSCO found all ventilation dampers in deck 4 port and starboard made of aluminum and in deteriorated condition, some not closing closing properly. 74SOLAS(81)-2/38.3.4. Code 50AC (30 Days).

The ring lines and letters shall be painted in white or yellow on a dark background or in black on alight ground. They shall also be permanently marked on the sides of the hsips to the satisfaction of the administration. The marks shall be plainly visible and if necessary, special arrangements shall be made for this purpose. The ship's deck line was not marked in a contrasting color. ILLC 66/ Annex 1 Reg 8

All lifeboats shall be of sufficient strength to enable them to be safely lowered into the water when loaded with their full complement of persons and equipment. All lifeboats shall be of such strength that they will not suffer residual deflection if subjected to an overload of 25%. Cracking on the upper shell, port side bow, was identified on Life boat #1. Separation along the affected area allowed for daylight to show through. 74 SOLAS 74 III/5(e)

Where due to any particular structural arrangements in the ship, difficulty is experienced in determining from the tables the minimum fire integrity value of any divisions, such values shall be determined to the satisfaction of the Administration. Combustible materials were found stored in the portside 606 room, and forward A/C room on deck 2. Flammable materials for the nail salon was not stored in an appropriate chemical locker, and found stored in a small closet in the gym. 74SOLASII-2 Reg 20.

After any survey of the ship under regulation 7 has been completed, no change shall be made in the structural arrangements, machinery, equipment and other items covered by the survey, without the sanction of the Administration. Two soft patches were found on the emergency bilge suction in the vicinity of the OWS.

PSCO OBSERVED MISSING INSULATION ABOVE BOTH AUXILIARY BOILERS, WHICH ARE LOCATED BELOW MAIN DINING ROOM.
