Transverse deck frame 2 will be replaced, the remaining damaged frames will be repaired with a scarfed wood piece and sister. During Damage Survey on 02 SEP, it was observed that a majority of the deck level shroud stay turnbuckles are nearly bottomed out. Mast last un-stepped 07 MAR 2018, and six year interval was extended to 30 NOV 2025 due to vessel not using sails. Given the structural failure and repairs being made to major hull members, USCG is requiring mast be un-stepped prior to operating vessel with passengers.

Stainless Steel Wire Rigging: The following guidelines apply to bare 316 grade stainless steel wire cable that is not “served,” coated or otherwise covered. The intervals are not absolute but considered good marine practice. Life expectancy for stainless on west coast is 10-15 years per NVIC 02-16. Replacement intervals outside these guidelines may be considered on a case-by-case basis with the approval of the local OCMI where an individual norm can be justified due to design, condition and service exposure.
