A pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system on a Small Passenger Vessel must Automatically shut down all power ventilation systems and all engines that draw intake air from within the protected space. During a test of the system, the engines would not shut down thereby making the system ineffective to extinguish an engine room fire. In the presence of a Marine Inspector, have the fire servicing company demonstrate the proper operation of the fixed fire extinguishing system to include alarm, engine shutdowns, and manual override at the operating station prior to carrying passengers.
