0696 - Lifesaving record of insp - Before the ship leaves port and at all times during the voyage, all life-saving appliances shall be in working order and ready for immediate use. PSCO Observed the port side lifeboat incapable of being launched. The release lever was not working when actuated by crew and the boat remained cradled and unable to proceed to embarkation deck. SOLAS 74(am) III/20.2

Resolution: Received, reviewed and accepted class report / proper documentation from NKK stating the deficiency was rectified. Crew overhauled the lifeboat davit, NKK witnessed several satisfactory operational tests.

0699- Lifesaving (other)- Each lifeboat shall be launched, and maneuvered in the water by its assigned operating crew, at least once every three months during an abandon ship drill. PSCO observed that although the starboard lifeboat was lowered to the water’s edge on 19Dec2015 the port lifeboat had not been lowered to the water’s edge since 05Sep15. SOLAS 74(am) III/19.3.3.3
