Except for a storage battery used in a rescue boat, each battery without an expiration date indicated on it or for which the owner or managing operator does not have a record of the expiration date, used in an item of lifesaving equipment, must be replaced during the annual inspection. The water light battery for the ring life buoy did not have an expiration date marked on the battery. Renew water light battery to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 185.726(e)

A submersible electric bilge pump may be used as a power bilge pump on a vessel of not more than 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length carrying not more than 49 passengers, other than a ferry, provided that the pump is permanently mounted. The forepeak and laz bilge pumps were found loose out of their strainers.
