The means provided for pumping bilges shall be tested by operation. All suction strainers shall be examined.
Vessel's crew was unable to successfully operate the bilge pumping system. Crew appears to not be familiar with the arrangement and alignment. Vessel's crew shall be trained to be able to test the bilge pumping system to the satisfaction of a CG Marine Inspector.

At each initial and subsequent inspection for certification, re-inspection and at every other vessel inspection the marine inspector shall require that all observed unsafe practices and hazardous situations be corrected. All electrical installations shall be to the satisfaction of the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection. Noted the following issues during the inspection of the machinery space:
-Wire loom for main diesel engine resting on hot manifold for all engines. Wire loom should be supported in a way that prevents damage to wire from heat.
-Cable for #2 Main diesel engine control box supported in overhead with electrical tape. Support cable with metal supports to avoid chafing and other damage.
