On a vessel of at least 7.9 meters (26ft) in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate a high water level in each of the following normally unmanned spaces: A space with through hull fittings below the waterline, a machinery space, a space with a non watertight closure and vessel constructed of wood must have bilge alarms in all spaces below the main deck. Vessel operator is unable to prove bilge alarms. Vessel owner will provide a third deck hand when underway with passengers. The third deck hand will have no other duties other than checking compartments to ensure no water intrusion and to give the alarm in cases of flooding.
