apparent the master was unaware of the function of bow
thruster, ships internal communication or location of

The owner, charterer, master shall instruct each crew member upon first being employed and prior to getting underway and at least every three months as the duties that the crew member is expected to perform in an emergency. Conduct crew training and familiarization to the satisfaction of the attending Coast Guard marine inspector.

Vessel lost electrical services while underway due to the main generator high cooling water temperature that reached the generator’s safety set point. The high cooling water temperature was identified to be caused by a broken water pump impeller. The engine head, block and exhaust shall be water jacketed and cooled by water from a pump which operates whenever the engine is operating. Make satisfactory repairs to the main generator cooling pump impeller to the satisfaction of the attending Coast Guard marine inspector.
