Life-saving appliances which are subject to deterioration with age shall be marked with a means for determining their age or the date by which they must be replaced. Ring lifebuoy waterlights had installed expired batteries. 74 SLOAS (97) III/30.3

Stairways which penetrate more than a single deck shall be protected by self-closing doors at all levels. Doors 06-70-1, 06-69-1, 1-105-2, and 1-106-1 do not close completely on their own. 74 SOLAS (97) II-2/46.2
