Not less than one half of the total number of lifebuoys shall be provided with lifebuoy self-igniting lights complying with the requirements of paragraph 2.1.3 of the code and be capable of quick release from the navigation bridge. PSCO observed ring lifebuoys that weighed 2.5 KG. LSA requires those ring lifebuoys to weigh a minimum of 4 KG.

All external high-pressure fuel delivery lines between the high-pressure fuel pumps and fuel injectors shall be protected with a jacketed piping system, which shall include a means for collection of leakages. Diesel fuel was observed leaking at a rate of one drop every three seconds from several fuel soaked high-pressure fuel lines on the Main Diesel Engine and puddling on top of the fuel pump covers. 74 SOLAS (2001)/II-2 Reg. 15.2.6.9 15ac

The machinery, boilers and other pressure vessels, associated piping systems and fittings shall be of a design and construction adequate for the service for which they are intended and shall be so installed and protected as to reduce to a minimum any danger to persons on board, due regard being paid to moving parts, hot surfaces and other hazards. A hand rail located next to the #1 General Service Pump had been modified so it could be detachable.
