Exhaust blower switches must be located outside of any space required to be ventilated by this section, and must be of the type interlocked with the starting switch and the ignition switch so that the blowers are started before the engine starter motor circuit or the engine ignition is energized. A red warning sign at the switch must state that the blowers must be operated prior to starting the engines for the time sufficient to insure at least one complete change of air in the space served. MARINE INSPECTOR OBSERVED... engine start switches were not interlocked to blowers. Operator to repair circuit so that both engine start switches are properly interlocked to blowers, and to provide proper warning sign at operating station, to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. 46 CFR 182.460(e)

The owner or managing operator must provide satisfactory evidence of the required servicing to the marine inspector. If any of the equipment or records have not been properly maintained, a qualified servicing facility must perform the required inspections, maintenance procedures, and hydrostatic pressure tests. A tag issued by a qualified servicing organization, and attached to each extinguisher, may be accepted as evidence that the necessary maintenance procedures have been conducted. MARINE INSPECTOR OBSERVED... required 10-B:C extinguisher did not have up to date annual servicing. Operator to have extinguisher replaced or serviced to the satisfaction of the marine inspector. 46 CFR 176.810(b)(iv)

Marine employers must establish programs for the chemical testing for dangerous drugs on a random basis of crewmembers on inspected vessels who occupy a position, required by the vessel's Certificate of Inspection. MARINE INSPECTOR OBSERVED... operator did not have proper documentation at time of inspection describing procedures for random drug testing. Operator to provide documentation of procedures for random drug testing to the satisfaction of the marine inspector.

The master and crew of a vessel will be familiar with the content of and have mounted at the operating station, emergency instructions containing the actions to be taken in the event of fire, heavy weather, or man overboard conditions. MARINE INSPECTOR OBSERVED... vessel did not have emergency instructions posted. Operator to provide documentation of emergency instructions, and may be kept with drill logs, to the satisfaction of the marine inspector. 46 CFR 185.510

The following spaces must be equipped with a fixed gas fire extinguishing system, in compliance with § 181.410, or other fixed fire extinguishing system specifically approved by the Commandant, except as otherwise allowed by paragraph (b) of this section: A space containing machinery powered by gasoline; A space containing a fuel tank for gasoline. Vessel currently has incomplete Fireboy installation. Operator to complete proper installation to the satisfaction of the Marine Inspector, prior to the carriage of passengers. 46 CFR 181.400(a)(4)(5)

To maintain a valid Certificate of Inspection, you must complete your annual inspection within the periods specified in §176.500(b)(1) and your Certificate of Inspection must be endorsed. The vessel failed to schedule or complete the required annual inspection. The vessel must complete a re-inspection for COI prior to operating.

COI is expired. Renew COI prior to carrying passengers.
