Each item of lifesaving equipment determined by the marine inspector to not be in serviceable condition must be repaired or replaced. 10 life jackets were found with deteriorated floatation foam and were condemned. Replacement jackets bought, labeled, and stowed before the inspection was completed. 46 CFR 176.808

Thewater light, required for night time operation, shall be stowed and attached the the ring life buoy nearest the opeating station. The float light was not operating as it should. Repair or replace the float light. A new float light was onboard prior to the completion of the inspection. 46 CFR 180.30-10

A vessel on which a pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system is installed must have the a light to indicate discharge. Lights on pre-engineered fixed gas fire extinguishing system alarm display are inoperable. 46 CFR 181.420(b)(1)

At each inspection for certification and at every other vessel inspection all observed unsafe practices, fire hazards, and other hazardous situations must be corrected and all required guards and protective devices must be in satisfactory condition. Cracks located on the starboard bow rail and loose mounting hardware located on multiple rail mounts. 46 CFR 176.830(a)

A vessel must comply with the applicable requirements for any radio...set forth in 47 CFR part 80. Each ship transporting more than six passengers for hire equipped with a radiotelephone station in accordance with Part III of Title III of the Communications Act must carry a radio operator who meets the following requirements: (1)Where the station power does not exceed 250 watts carrier power or 1500 watts peak envelope power, the radio operator must hold a marine radio operator permit or higher class license. 2) Where the station power exceeds 250 watts carrier power or 1500 watts peak envelope power, the radio operator must hold a general radiotelephone operator license or higher class license. An adult life jacket must be provided for each person carried on board a vessel. Vessel had 6 unserviceable life jackets. 46 CFR 180.71

Repairs or alterations to the hull, machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI. The port side bulkhead longitudinal stringer located in the engine room is cracked. Operator will make repairs like and in kind. 46 CFR 176.700

New installations of electrical equipment and material, and the repair or replacement of wire and cable, on an existing vessel, which are completed to the satisfaction of the cognizant Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection (OCMI) on or after March 11, 1996, must comply with this part. A new battery charger and shore power connection conductors were installed on the vessel without submitting plans. Vessel must submit plans for approval to MSC. 46 CFR 183.115(c) 50C

Identified fractured starboard rudder post mount base plate. The mount was found fractured entirely from fwd to stern and permitting water to enter the space when steering maneuvers were performed. Seating accommodations for passengers are required to be provided only when the max number of passengers permitted has been determined by using fixed seating criteria. Identified (18) passenger seats fractured and unusable. Passenger count reduced by (18). Renew seating as original or provide proposal for seating arrangement. 46 CFR 177.30-1

Rails or equivalent shall be installed near the periphery of all weather decks accessible to pax & crew. Stbd fwd railing found fractured. Renew as original. 46 CFR 177.35-1

On or before March 11, 1999, an existing vessel must comply with the bilge high level alarm requirements in 182.530. Vessels greater than 26 feet shall have a visual and audible alarm at the operating station to indicate high water levels in spaces identified in 182.530. 46 CFR 182.530

A vessel must be provided with a main steering gear that is: Of adequate strength and capable of steering the vessel at all service speeds. The vessel's steering gear was reported as inoperable. Repair to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.

On wooden vessels, bonding together of the enclosures and frames of major electrical equipment to a common ground shall be effected. Inspector found bonding wires disconnected. Connect all bonding wires as required by cited regulation. 46 CFR 183.05-50(d)(2)

All electrical installations shall be to the satisfaction of the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection. Inspector found lighting fixture in engine room without protective cover. Provide protective cover for fixture. 46 CFR 183.01-15(a)

Unless a splice is made by an insulated pressure wire connector listed by Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc., it shall be thoroughly soldered, taped first with rubber and then with friction tape, or the soldered joint shall be otherwise protected as to provide an insulation the same as that of the conductors joined. Inspector found dead ended wires in aft steering and tank compartments. Remove wires or properly secure as per cited regulation. 46 CFR 183.05-50(b)(2)

Found line for self-igniting light way too long. Make line 3-6 feet as required.

Fixed bilge water management system manifold in engine room was not labled. Lable all valves to location on vessel.

Replace aft stbd cutlass bearing.

Repair delamination and if greater than superficial Marine Inspector to re-exam.

Remove bad plywood (with angle hair) around upper vent over port and stbd engines to good plywood and seal engrains.

Remove bad plywood forward of stbd engine access cover to good plywood and insert a new piece, as original, and seal to include engrains.

Complete credited hull inspection and power trials for engines being overhauled.

Replace oil cool lines for reduction gear.

Replace 03 PFDs, reduced passenger count to 127.

Affix grounding straps to motor mount brackets.
