Cooking and heating equipment must be suitable for marine use. Equipment designed and installed in accordance with American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) A-3, “Galley Stoves,” and A-7, “Boat Heating Systems,” or with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 302, “Pleasure and Commercial Motor Craft,” complies with this requirement. Following the electrical fire that occurred inside the galley oven: Repair/replace galley oven and have attending MI verify installation and operation prior to use while carrying passengers for hire. Vessel may also remove and discontinue use of any cooking equipment. While passengers are carried onboard, vessel is restricted from operating cooking equipment and shall lock out/tag out electrical source of power for such equipment at panel if hardwired into electrical circuit.
