Plans and booklets shall be kept up to date, any alterations being recorded thereon as soon as practicable. PSCO observed that the fire control plan for the engine room in way of the purifier flat was inaccurate for these reasons: The fixed foam discharge nozzle located above the purifiers is not connected to a foam firefighting system. It is connected a sea water system. There is no foam tanks for the purifiers but the fire control plan lists one. The CO2 discharge nozzle located on the starboard outboard area of the purifier flat is not marked on the fire control plan. 74SOLAS(97) II-2/20.1

PSCO observed port and starboard bridge wing quick release life buoys were not attached to the self illuminating light and smoke. For the stowage and care of cylinders. 46 CFR 147.60(b)92) Lockers or housings must be vented to the open air near the top and bottom for poitive ventillation of vapors. Cylinder lockers have been sealed and do not provide adequate ventillation.

Resolution: PSCO's attended vessel, vessel crew removed the welded on steel plating of the door that was covering the ventilation mesh. There is now adequate ventilation to the cylinder locker.
