MI found that the main service generator winding were covered in an excessive buildup of grease and dirt, posing a significant fire hazard. All vessels must have navigation lights that are in compliance with the applicable sections of the International and Inland Navigation Rules. MI observed the vessel's port side navigation light was inoperative, posing a safety hazard. Replace/make repairs to the port side navigation light to the satisfaction to the attending MI. 46 CFR 183.420 16C

In systems and applications where flexible hoses are permitted to be clamped, double hose clamping is required where practicable. Attending MI found unapproved hose clamp configuration on generator fuel line.

A hatch cover must:(1) Have securing devices; and(2) Be attached to the hatch frame or coaming by hinges, captive chains, or other devices of substantial strength to prevent its loss. Attending MI discovered captive hatch chain for lazarette hatch not connected to vessel.

Materials used in piping systems must meet the requirements of this subpart and be otherwise acceptable to the cognizant [name withheld] discovered essential system failure of overboard bilge valve.

The exhaust pipe cooling water system must comply with the requirements of this paragraph. Attending MI discovered main diesel engine exhaust water leaking into engine room in the vicinity of vessel electrical systems.

Your vessel must undergo an annual inspection within the 3 months before or after each anniversary date. You must contact the cognizant OCMI to schedule an inspection at a time and place which he or she approves. Vessel failed to contact OCMI to undergo annual inspection prior to 12JUN2024.

Each life preserver carried on a vessel after June 30, 1980, must have at least 200 sq. cm of retroreflective material attached on its front side, at least 200 sq. cm on its backside, and at least 200 sq. cm of material on each of its reversible sides. 03 life preservers have retroreflective material that is no longer serviceable. Replace retroflective material on life preservers to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector.

A hatch exposed to the weather must be watertight. The gasket on the forward hatch of the vessel had a one inch gap and showed signs of deterioration. Replace gasket on forward hatch to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector.

Generators and motors designed for 40 degrees Celsius may be used in 50 degree Celsius ambient locations provided the machines are derated to 80 percent of full load rating, and the rating or setting of the overcurrent devices is reduced accordingly. An additional nameplate specifying the derated capacity shall be provided for each such motor and generator. The generator is currently rated for 40 degrees Celsiusand operates in an ambient climate of 50 degrees Celsius. Provide documentation that the generator has been derated and a load analysis demonstrating the generator is capable of meeting the ships current load to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector. Provide documentation of load analysis prior to running the generator while operating with the air conditioners.

In general, compliance with the standards established by a recognized classification society will be considered satisfactory evidence of the structural adequacy of a vessel. There is a cracked weld on the port aft engine mount. Repair to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector.

Shutoff valves, installed so as to close against the fuel flow, shall be fitted in the fuel supply lines, one at the tank connection which shall be operable from from outside the tank compartment. The fuel remote shut off valve was heavily corroded. Replace to the satisfaction of the USCG Marine Inspector.

Port and starboard battery bank covers are not attached to battery box and present a chaffing hazard to cables. Secure battery covers to eliminate movement.

6 man lifefloat missing decal for type, manufacture, approval. Replace lifefloat with approved type. Reduced total persons onboard to 24 due to onboard lifefloat capacity.

Float free link painted over and unreadable. Replaced on the spot.
