Closure devices must be provided for deckhouse or hull penetrations, which open to the exterior of the vessel and which may allow water to enter the vessel. These devices must be suitable for the expected route. Inspector discovered 03 watertight doors and 01 watertight hatch throughout the ship that had worn or incorrect gaskets and zerks that had been painted over. Additionally, several openings for wiring leading out the engine room were no longer in use.
