Fire extinguishers on board had improperly marked tags with past due dates marked. O/O had paperwork on the vessel stating all PFEs were inspected by an approved facility. Facility returned to the vessel an corrected the tags. 1 PFE was extinguished and the PFE was removed from the vessel, buit not required to be replaced as it was in excess to requirements.
