Two means of escape shall be provided from each machinery space of Category A. In particular, one of the following provisions shall be complied with: In the lower part of the space, a steel door which provides access to a safe escape route from the lowest part of the space to the open deck. PSCO observed the emergency escape hatch in the engine room that was missing one of its hinges due to rusting.
