Ship's shall be fitted with oil filtering equipment that shall ensure that any oily mixture discharged into the sea after passing though the system has an oil content not exceeding 15 PPM. Separating equipment was rendered inoperable as result of a crack in the pump's stator that occured because of a leak on teh supply side (suction) of the pump that air bound the pump.
