In addition, unless the service is such that children are never carried, there shall be provided a number of approved life preservers suitable for children equal to at least 10 percent of the total number of persons carried. Three KAPOK PFDs were found not suitable for continued use. Passenger count is limited to 35 until replacements are provided.

On vessels carrying vehicles, suitable chains, cable, or other barriers shall be installed at the ends of the vehicle runways. In addition, suitable gates, rails, or other devices shall be installed as a continuation of the regularly required rails. The rails leading to the operating station has broken free from contact with deck. Make permanent repairs before credit dry dock.

At each initial and subsequent inspection for certification, the owner or managing operator must be prepared to conduct tests and have the vessel ready for inspection of its fire protection equipment, including the following: Inspection of piping, controls, and valves, and the inspection and testing of alarms and ventilation shutdowns, for each fixed gas fire extinguishing system and detection system to determine that the system is in operating condition. There are no ventilation closures for the machinery space.

For equivalent kits, the contents must be stowed in a suitable, watertight container that is marked “First-Aid Kit”. A first-aid kit must be easily visible and readily available to the crew. The medicine in the first aid kit are expired.
