Conductors must be protected in accordance with their current carrying capacities. If the allowable current carrying capacity does not correspond to a standard device size, the next larger over current device may be used provided it does not exceed 150 percent of the conductor current carrying capacity. 14 AWG wire for the machinery space lighting was installed on a 20-amp breaker. Remove 20-amp breaker and install a UL 489 approved 15-amp breaker for proper over current protection of the 14 awg wire. Lighting circuit shall not be energized until this has been rectified.

The use of plastic tie wraps must be limited to bundling or retention of multiple cable installations, and not used as a means of support, except that on vessels of not more than 19.8 meters (65 feet) in length, installations in accordance with paragraph 14.h of ABYC E-8 and paragraph 15.h of ABYC E-9 (both incorporated by reference; see 46 CFR 175.600) are acceptable as meeting the requirements of this section.
