During testing of emergency fire pump, a leak was discovered at the flange on the discharge side. Make permanent repairs to satisfaction of ABS prior to departure. 74 SOLAS (1997) II-2/4.1

A launching appliance shall not depend on any means other than gravity or stored mechanical power which is independent of the ship's power supplies to launch the survival craft or rescue boat it serves in the fully loaded and equipped condition and also in the light condition. During inspection, it was found that the pendant for port and starboard lifeboats had an improperly measured brake release cable would not allow the operator of the lifeboat to gravity deploy the lifeboat. Make repairs to satisfaction of ABS prior to departure. 74 SOLAS (2004) III/34 LSA 6.1.1.3

Every oil fuel pipe, which, if damaged, would allow oil to escape from a storage, settling or daily service tank situated above the double bottom shall be fitted with a cock or valve directly on the tank capable of being closed from a safe position outside the space concerned in the event of a fire occurring in the space in which such tanks are situated. During inspection, it was found that the T-handle that is required to secure the e-gen fuel tank was missing. Replace t-handle and demonstrate use for fuel shut off to satisfaction of ABS. 74 SOLAS (1997) II-2/15.2.5

Every lifeboat shall be fitted with a device to secure a painter near its bow. The device shall be such that the lifeboat does not exhibit unsafe or unstable characteristics when being towed by the ship making headway at speeds up to 5 knots in calm water. During inspection, both port and starboard lifeboat painters were found to be deteriorating polypropylene line. Replace with new to satisfaction of ABS. 74 SOLAS (2004) III/34 LSA CODE 4.4.7.7
