Doors required to be self-closing shall not be fitted with hold-back hooks. However hold-back arrangements fitted with remote release devices of the fail-safe type may be utilized. PSCO found "A" class boundaries most notably in stairways with hook and latch manual hold backs.

All ships of 150 gross tonnage and upwards shall be fitted with a daylight signaling lamp, or other means, to communicate by light during day and night using an energy source of electrical power not solely dependent upon the ship's power supply. PSCO found that the signaling lamp does not have a source of power independent from ship's power.
