Vessel reported lose of steering due to ruptured hydraulic steering hose. Vessel is restricted from movement until appropriate repairs are carried out on steering system and proper operation is witnessed by an attending marine inspector.

Provisions shall be made by means of plugs, covers, etc., to prevent the admission of air into the space protected. Vessel is an existing vessel with a hull, or a machinery space boundary bulkhead or deck, composed of wood and must be equipped with a fixed gas fire extinguishing system, on or before March 11, 1999. Vessel has numerous ventilation openings (08) on the exterior hull just below the weather deck, openings connect to side tunnels and tunnels connect to engine room space. There are no means to secure ventilation openings in the hull that connect directly to a space protected by a fixed gas extinguishing system. Submit plans to modify vessel to comply with all provisions required for a space with a fixed gas extinguishing system, plans must be approved by local OCMI prior to any modifications or alterations to vessel. 46 CFR 181.20-35(a) OLD T Regulations

Vessel reported a loss of steering due to a ruptured hydraulic steering hose. Prior to movement, repair hydraulic hose and provide technician's report stating the steering system is in good working order and demonstrate proper operation to the satisfaction of the attending USCG Marine Inspector. 46 CFR 182.610, 60c.

The main engine suffered a oil leak from a ruptured hose due to chafing on the battery box. Replace ruptured hose to the satisfaction of an attending marine inspector prior to the carriage of passengers.
