Repairs or alternations to the hull, machinery, or equipment that affect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI. Vessel operator self reported a small area of hull plating underneath the generator raw water suction valve in the engine room. Vessel is not authorized the carriage of passengers until the vessel is hauled out, examined, repair plan is developed and approved and the repair is completed to the satisfaction of the local OCMI.
