The condition of the ship and it's equipment shall be maintained to conform with the provisions of the present regulations to ensure that ship all respects will remain fit to proceed to sea without danger to the ship or persons on board. The switchboard for the cargo ventilation fans were modified with inadequately wired portable fans in order to prevent the thermal overloads from tripping.

1540-Gyro Compass-All ships 500 GT and above shall have a gyro compass heading repeater to supply heading information at the emergency steering positiion.
