Whenever a vessel is to carry out major repairs or alterations affecting the safety or seaworthiness of the vessel, it is the duty of the person in charge to report any contemplated repairs or alterations to the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection (OCMI). A report was received regarding repairs to the vessel’s planks. A Coast Guard Marine Inspector attended the vessel, observed questionable repairs, and identified concerns in the vicinity of the bow. No additional repairs or alterations shall be conducted without prior authorization from the OCMI.

After re-entering the water on 18JUN25, 02 additional areas of water ingress were identified my MSD Santa Barbara marine inspector. New areas of water intrusion identified on 18JUN25 are: Butt-block above chine under bunk 24 / port side AND Butt-block under forward / stbd bunk in forward accommodation space. Vessel departed Ventura Boatyard without marine inspector verifying status of leaking areas identified. Vessel's COI was removed from the vessel on 11JUN25 and is scheduled for a recertification inspection on 25JUN25 at Seaforth Landing. Prior to the 25JUN25 recertification inspection, provide Sector San Diego with objective evidence attesting to any repairs made to address the 02 new areas of water ingress and the current leaking rated of each area.
