The installation of all systems of a marine engineering nature, together with the details of design, construction, and installation, shall be in accordance with the requirements of subchapter F (Marine Engineering) of this chapter. NCDOT reported "B" end shaft bearing was slipping and sparking during morning checks. NCDOT must conduct repairs IAW manufacturers specifications ans in-kind equipment. Provide proof of repairs to attending marine inspector. If vessel needs to get underway for repairs, notify the MSD Ft. Macon office for request/approval.

All piping, valves, and fittings shall meet the applicable requirements of subchapter F (Marine Engineering) of this chapter. Vessel master made a report stating during fire drill, crew discovered fire main piping located in the engine room had a pin hole leak. Vessel is currently moored at Cherry Branch. NCDOT must provide repair report stating the correction to the vessel and hydro results of the pipe (1.5 times safe working pressure). Vessel master will notify MSD Fort Macon as conditions change.

Vessel's representative reported that the emergency diesel generator has to operate with the emergency generator space's doors open to prevent the engine from overheating. Troubleshoot and provide adequate ventilation to prevent emergency generator from overheating.

Master reported the #1 steering system gave alarm during transit and automatically shifted to the #2 steering system. No loss of steering was reported. The vessel moored at Cherry Branch. Electricians conducted verification of the system. A fault code for the "B" end transverse thrust was noted. A calibration of the potentiometer and system was completed. After which, the fault was cleared. The system was tested and found working satisfactory; dockside and post underway trails by the crew.

Crew reported during checks of the vessels rescue boat. The rescue boat davit manual winch safety cut out switch (for the handle) was found inoperative, further investigation revealed the switch was corroded. Maintenance replaced the switch in-kind and tested satisfactory. The master provided objective evidence and an attestation reporting satisfactory operation.
