Except for engine exhaust, each inlet or discharge pipe that penetrates the hull below a line drawn parallel to and at least (6 inches) above the deepest load waterline must have means to prevent water from entering the vessel if the pipe fractures or otherwise fails. Thru-hull inlet below generator was found in the open position with a 3-4 ft hose that was not connected to any piece or machinery allowing for the possibility of the vessel taking on water. Demonstrate thru-hull inlet is completed closed and remains close, remove hose if no longer utilized, recommend that inlet is capped or blanked off.
