Reconfigure life raft stowage using approved hydrostatic release units to enable float-free and automatic inflation.

The shutoff valve at the tank must be manually operable from outside the compartment in which the valve is located, preferably from an accessible position on the weather deck. The portside fuel shutoff valve was not fully operable; the reach rod did not adequately engage with the handwheel, preventing proper opening and closing of the valve. Rectify the valve control mechanism to ensure full and reliable operation to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.

The intent of this part is to ensure that the scantlings, material, fastenings, workmanship and arrangement of each vessel are such as to provide for
safe operation in accordance with the terms of its certificate of inspection. The rudder arm mounts on both the starboard and port sides have cracked welds. Cracked welds were observed at all four corners of the starboard-side entrance and at the bottom two corners of the port-side entrance to the accommodation space. Weld repairs performed on various structural frames—particularly those located within the steering gear void—were incomplete. Welding was only carried out on the top side of the frames, with no welding performed underneath, leaving visible cracks. Perform weld repairs in accordance with standards ensuring full weld continuity on all affected joints. All repair work is to be conducted under the oversight and to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector.
