…All vessels shall carry pyrotechnic distress signals as follows: 12 hand combination flare and smoke distress signals. MI’s observed 6 combination flare and smoke distress signals. Vessel is restricted to Lakes, Bays and Sounds routes until 12 distress signals are onboard. 46 CFR 180.35-5(a)

Batteries shall be located as high above the bilge as practicable and secured against shifting with motion of the boat. Battery boxes were not properly secured to the mount. 46 CFR 183.05-20(b)

Remote fuel shutoff stations shall be marked in at least 1-inch letters indicating purpose of the valve and direction of operation. Remote shutoff valve was not labeled. 46 CFR 185.30-20(a)

...A vessel at anchor shall exhibit where it can best be seen: In the fore part, an all-round white light. The anchor light did not energize on when tested. 33 CFR 83.30(a)(i)

Each vessel must have the following: An illuminated magnetic steering compass, mounted in a binnacle, that can be read at the vessel's main steering stand. Vessel is restricted to daytime operations until the magnetic compass can illuminate. 33 CFR 164.35(b)

All vessels must have navigation lights that are in compliance with the applicable sections of the International and Inland Navigation Rules. MI’s observed a cracked stern light. 46 CFR 183.420

All life preservers and ring life buoys shall be marked with the vessel’s name. The ring life buoys were not marked with the vessel’s name. 46 CFR 185.30-5(c)

Vessel must be provided with bilge pump iaw table 182.520(a) Demostrate proper operation of installed bilge system.

Exhaust gas must not leak from piping or any connections. Exhaust leak on starboard engine needs repaired.

(b) An internal structural examination conducted in compliance with § 176.600 may be conducted while the vessel is afloat or out of the water and consists of a complete examination of the vessel's main strength members, including the major internal framing, the hull plating... so that the inspector may be satisfied as to the condition of the hull structure... During Internal structural examination, Marine Inspectors found the following. 1. Deep pitting and corrosion on FWD Peak, Bow thruster space, Engine room, and steering compartment bottom plate and frames MIs found concentrated pitting on center line and surrounding areas. Using 3/8s as the thickness of the aluminum, some pits were as deep as 80%. Not all pits were measured during Internal Structural Exam. Requested operator to clean all spaces for further inspection. Please provide a plan to clean and preserve spaces. 2. There is a 3' x 2 inch hole in the port side engineroom side shell. Provide plan to repair. 3. There are 2 open penetrations in the collision bulkhead, penetrations are in the 2 corners where bulkhead meet the hull. Provide repair plan for review and approval. 4. There is a missing weld on the port side transverse frame allowing water to pass through collision bulkhead. Provide repair plan for review and approval. 5. MI found 2 missing welds on the bilge piping penetrating bulkhead. Allowing water to pass to the engineroom. Complete welds around bilge piping. Create and maintain a daily inspection log for all spaces, to monitor pitting and corrosion. Ensure bilges are dry at all times. 46 CFR 176.610 (B)

All vessels of 26 feet in length and over shall be provided with individual bilge lines and bilge suctions... During inspection MI found several rubber pieces missing hose clamps and excessive corrosion in 2 pipes, causing bilge system to loose suction and not work as designed. Replace all the hoses that were discover and repair pipes to the satisfaction of Marine Inspector. 46 CFR 182.25-5 (a)

Each hatch exposed to the weather must be watertight... Forward peak hatch gasket is deteriorated and needs to be replaced. 46 CFR 171.124(a)

Each ring life buoy must be of an approved type, constructed in accordance with 160.050... Retroreflective material on life buoy needs to be replace with new. 46 CFR 180.30-1 (a)

All electrical installations shall be to the satisfaction of the OCMI... Battery connections were loose on all port side batteries. Recommended operator to add lock washers to prevent future issues. 46 CFR 183.01-15 (a)

On a vessel of at least 26 feet in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided.... Replace broken lights on panel and label compartments to ensure crew members know what space is alarming. 46 CFR 182.530(a)

Exhaust piping shall be gas-tight through its length... During inspection MI found multiple Exhaust couplings leaking water. Replace hoses and clamps. Test to the Satisfaction of MI. 46 CFR 182.15-20

A bilge suction must be fitted with a suitable strainer having an open area not less than three times the area of the bilge pipe. Bilge suction strainers are severely dirty and clogged blocking suction. Remove and clear all strainers. 46CFR182.510(b)

Each vessel that carries more than 49 passengers must comply with subdivision and damage stability requirements. Forward bulkhead and overhead above port engine have unsealed through holes. Seal penetrations to re-establish space weathertightness. 46 CFR 171.040(a)(ii)

Vessel must have an approved Class A EPIRB that is stowed in a manner that it will float free. Hydrostatic release unit expired in September. 46 CFR 180.40-1

Starboard side strut bearing worn beyond allowable limits. Replace bearing prior to credit dry-dock. 46 CFR 176.630

Bilge suction pipe in lazerette has excessive pitting. Replace pipe in kind prior to credit dry-dock. 46 CFR 182.710

Starboard main propulsion engine raw water hose to exhaust cracked at connections. Replace hose with approved type. 46 CFR 182.720

Bilge suction in machinery space from manifold to pick up has excessive amount of flexible hose. System to be hard piped with sections of up to 30" of flexible hose allowed for the purpose of flexibility. 46 CFR 182.720(e)

Bilge piping in forward void has flexible hose connection from collision bulkhead to shut-off valve and a wasted section of piping. Valve to be installed as close to bulkhead as possible without flexible hose connection between valve and bulkhead and wasted section of piping to be replaced. 46 CFR 182.510(d)

Forepeak watertight hatch gasket cracked and requires replacement. Replace gasket to make hatch watertight. 46 CFR 179.360

Two light covers in the machinery space are missing guards. Install guards around light covers. 46 CFR 183.410

Emergency fuel shutoff valves are installed in the machinery space and not at the fuel tanks. Fuel shutoff valves shall be fitted in the fuel supply lines, one at each tank connection. Repairs to be made at home port. 46 CFR 182.20-40(b)(3) (OLD T)

EPIRB battery expired. 46CFR180.64

Replace floating water light batteries on 3 life floats and 1 life ring. 46CFR180.175

STBD navigation light worked intermittently and needs to be mounted properly or replaced. 46CFR183.420

Submit repair plan for hull pitting in tank room and lazerette.

Install metallic plug in unused deck drain in the engine room, port side.

Label bilge pump manifold valves.
