Vessel shall be maintained in a safe and seaworthy condition. Vessel has an installed module on deck that is determined to be a Portable Accommodation Module (PAM) IAW CG-ENG Policy Letter 01-16 (PAM is an offshore lab where person(s) will take shifts to monitor equipment and readings) that has deficiencies in Electrical installation, Lifesaving, Fire Detection and fire-fighting equipment, Fire Hazards, and Working Conditions. During the inspection, the following was observed, but not limited to: The electrical wiring was using extension cords and splitters were interconnected ("daisy chained"). Module lacked fire detection, emergency lighting, emergency communication of the general alarm and PA system, and lifejackets. Flammable wooden shelving (2X4 and Plywood) were built into the module. Fire/Safety plan was not updated with the modules. Vessel's electrical system has been modified as Module and survey equipment is being powered by ship's electrical system with power cords being run from the top of the bridge down to the modules.
