The water light attached to the life float had loose battery connections, upon further inspection the battery was not the appropriate type for the water light. Each life jacket carried on a vessel on oceans, coastwise, or Great Lakes route, must have a life jacket light approved in accordance with § 161.012 in subchapter Q of this chapter. All lights attached to the life jackets were not working. Replace defective lights on each life jacket required on the COI to the satisfaction of the attending marine inspector. Vessel is restricted to no more than 20 miles from a harbor of safe refuge.
