An interconnected detection and alarm system must: consists of multiple-station smoke detectors meeting UL 217 and be installed such that the actuation of alarm in one area resulting in both audible and visual alarms in all areas, and must have independent power source. Alarms were tested in two separate areas of vessel, when alarm was activated in one area it did not activate the other two alarms. Vessel is restricted to limited coastwise route until MI can witness the operation of alarms to meet requirements of interconnected detection system.
