from entering the vessel if the pipe fractures or

replaced by O/O for convenience.

Each life float must be stowed so that in the event of the vessel sinking the life floats are able to float free. Three (03) life floats stowed in a deck box on the port side of the upper deck were found to not be in a float free arrangement. The pilothouse structure prevents the deck box lid from floating free. Prove float free arrangement for port side life floats to an attending marine inspector prior to getting underway.

Provision must be made for closing all supply duct cowls or scoops and exhaust duct discharge openings for a space protected by a fixed gas extinguishing system. All closure devices must be readily available and mounted in the vicinity of the vent. Starboard side main deck super structure has small openings to the engine room that do not have closure devices. Provide closure devices and prove proper operation to the satisfaction of an attending marine inspector prior to getting underway.

On a vessel of at least 7.9 meters (26 feet) in length, a visual and audible alarm must be provided at the operating station to indicate a high water level in normally unmanned spaces. Vessels constructed of wood must also provide bilge level alarms in all watertight compartments except small buoyancy chambers. Bilge high water level alarm for the vessel's forepeak was inoperable. Prove proper operation of the bilge high level alarm in the forepeak to the satisfaction of an attending marine inspector prior to getting underway.

Overnight passenger capacity has been determined to be thirty-two (32).

Repairs or alterations to the equipment that effect the safety of the vessel must not be made without the approval of the cognizant OCMI, to include electrical wiring and power supply systems. Vessel was found with numerous added electrical loads, including a NITROX generating system in the lazarette, food freezers in the lazarette, electric clothes dryer in the lazarette, a shower/bilge drain pump in the lazarette, a new electric double oven in the galley, additional engine room ventilation fans, a salon ice maker, additional salon refrigerator, hydraulic pump for dive platform, and an electric grill on the main deck. In addition, the shore tie was found without a circuit breaker installed at the switchboard. Provide plans for approval showing electrical generating and distribution system as
installed, to include materials used, over current protection details, and load analysis.

Provide intact motor controllers which provide protection from electrical hazards.
