A limit switch to stop the steering gear before it reaches the rudder stops required by paragraph (e) of this section.
During operational testing of the steering system, whenever steering gear was pressed hard STBD, the port tiller arm was contacting the rudder stop and the rudder stop would deflect back. At the next DD, disassemble rudder and associated pins and bolts to determine any damage caused buy this as well as inspect all welds and potential structural areas that may have been affecting by the flexing of the rudder stop. Additionally provide proposal to correct the tiller from impacting the rudder stop.

All vessels shall be provided with a satisfactory arrangement for draining any watertight compartment other than small buoyancy compartments. The fixed bilge pump and piping system was not operational during this inspection. Vsl was unable to dewater forepeak or lazarette . Additionally during test of bilge piping in lazarette the bilge pipe broke, rendering it inoperable.
