Vessel rep reported while leaving the dock after a maintenance period that the thrust bearing on the shaft to the jet failed and the shaft broke inside of the bearing housing. 46 CFR 182.200

Vessel Rep reported that while the passengers were off the boat in the middle of a trip, the captain found that the engine would not start. Determine cause of engine failure and make appropriate repairs as necessary.
