In addition to meeting the requirements of regulation 7, every ship engaged on voyages beyond sea areas A1 and A2, but remaining within sea area A3, shall, if it does not comply with the requirements of paragraph 2, be provided with: through the Inmarsat geostationary satellite service, by an additional ship earth station. Vessel is outfitted with two Inmarsat receivers to comply with the above regulation; one of these receivers has been discovered to be malfunctioning and is unusable. Effect repairs to the vessel's Inmarsat system, and provide a technician/class report attesting to the proper operation of the system.

Resolution: Examined repairs completed by manufacturers (Rolls Royce) tech rep. Renewed two "O" rings on the lower main seal of the rotary vane motor. Conducted complete set of steering tests on both the primary and emergency steering systems, test sat.

Freefall launching of the lifeboat may be extended until 31Dec2007 per 46CFR199.180(d)(5) and SOLAS 74/78 amended III/19.3.3.4 provided a simulated launching is witnessed by an attending ABS surveyor prior to departing LA-LB.
